Business Community Urges Administration to Ensure Model BIT Will Promote U.S. Exports and Competitiveness

ECAT joined with the heads of 20 other business organizations to urge that the Administration's Model BIT Review produce a strengthened U.S. BIT that will allow the United States to reinvigorate its BIT program and level the playing field internationally.  BITs are a vital tool to promote U.S. exports, economic growth and job gains.  These groups also strongly cautioned against the adoption of propsals that would weaken core BIT protections at the expense of U.S. enterprise and their workers or would had new non-investment related provisions that would undermine the ability of the United States to negotiate new BITs.
