ECAT Presents 2007 Trade and Investment Leadership Awards

PRESENTS 2007 AWARDS TO

SENATORS MAX BAUCUS AND CHUCK GRASSLEY AND WARREN STALEY, CHAIRMAN AND CEO OF CARGILL

Washington, D.C., February 13, 2007— The Emergency Committee for American Trade (ECAT) today presented its 2007 ECAT Trade and Investment Leadership Awards to Senator Max Baucus, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Chuck Grassley, Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Finance and Warren Staley, Chairman and CEO of Cargill, Incorporated, for their strong support for pro-growth international trade and investment policies.

In presenting the awards at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium this evening, Harold McGraw III, Chairman, President and CEO of The McGraw-Hill Companies and Chairman of ECAT, first recognized ECAT’s 40 years of leadership on trade policy:

“For 40 years, ECAT has helped promote trade and investment policies that enhance economic opportunities and worked on a bipartisan basis to promote economic growth and higher living standards through the opportunities that trade and investment brings.”

In presenting the ECAT award to Senators Baucus and Grassley, Mr. McGraw stated:

“There is, I believe, no better example of bipartisanship in Congress over the last half decade, than that displayed by Senators Max Baucus and Chuck Grassley and much of the progress we have seen on advancing pro-growth and beneficial trade policies over the last six years would not have been possible without the joint work of Senators Baucus and Grassley.”

In presenting the ECAT award to Mr. Staley, Mr. McGraw stated:

Under Warren Staley’s leadership, Cargill is facing head-on the challenges and opportunities of globalization.  It has expanded its products and services, using technology and innovation to enhance its relationships with customers and farmers worldwide.   Cargill is also at the forefront of expanding the beneficiaries of trade, creating new opportunities in developing countries worldwide as well as here in the United States.”

ECAT annually presents its Trade and Investment Leadership Awards to recognize outstanding contributions by public officials and business leaders in advancing the international trade and investment agenda.  Former recipients of the ECAT Trade and Investment Leadership Award include former U.S. Trade Representative Rob Portman and Congressmen Kevin Brady (R-TX) and Gregory Meeks (D-NY) in 2007, House Rules Committee Chairman David Dreier (R-CA) and Congressman William Jefferson (D-LA) in 2005 and former Congressman Cal Dooley (D-CA) and House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO) in 2004.
