About the TPP
The TPP negotiations represent a tremendous opportunity to open markets and level the playing field for American companies and workers in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region.
Together, the countries participating in the TPP include Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Malaysia, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam. These important economies already represent the United States fourth-largest trading partner, with two-way goods trade in 2010 of nearly $177 billion.
Once successfully completed, trade with these eight countries will provide important new economic opportunities to strengthen the U.S. economy. The TPP is expected to act as a platform to bring in other Asia-Pacific economies to a high-standard, comprehensive agreement that will eliminate barriers and improve U.S. competitiveness in the region.
